Kristin Havel, LPC

I'm Kristin Havel, a Licensed Professional Counselor practicing in Wisconsin. I work with teens, young adults, adults, and couples, with a focus on trauma, eating disorders, body image, anxiety, depression, OCD, and neurodivergence. I'm proud to offer LGBTQIA+ affirming care.

My Approach

My goal is to be an open, safe space where every client can explore their own path toward healing. I believe in the impact of genuine compassion and empathy. The people I work with have been shaped by the world around them, so I want to understand how you see your own life and the strengths you already have for building resilience when things get hard.

I frame therapy through a person-centered lens and bring in feminist and multicultural approaches whenever I can. I also draw from CBT, DBT, ACT, Internal Family Systems, Narrative Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, always with a trauma-informed foundation.

What to Expect

I hope clients feel that I'm bringing my genuine self into the room so our work feels relational rather than transactional. Whatever you've been through, I want you to know I'm truly there with you. Clients describe me as authentic, down-to-earth, and nonjudgmental. I've been told I have a calming presence and that I'm fully present and value what others have to say.

Our first few sessions are about getting to know you and your unique needs. Building rapport is special to me, so I take the time to create a good working relationship. I also value collaboration, and I'll help you feel comfortable speaking up about what you need and want from our time together.

I often tell clients that their job is to identify what they want out of therapy, and my job is to help shape that into goals that feel professional and realistic. Goals matter, but life happens and they may need to shift along the way. We'll work together to make sure you're still making progress while leaving room for whatever comes up in the process.
