Erin Nelson, APSW-IT
Hello, I'm Erin Nelson. I am an Advanced Practice Social Worker (APSW) holding both a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and a Master of Social Work (MSW), and I am licensed in Wisconsin.
Most of my professional experience has involved working in child welfare and foster care settings, where I have had the privilege of supporting children, individuals, and families from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. This work includes extensive training in child welfare, foster care, adoption, and kinship care, and it continues to shape how I show up for the people I serve.
My Approach
I believe meaningful change happens when clients feel heard, respected, and supported, and are able to build on their strengths in a safe and collaborative space. My approach is client-centered and solution-focused, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify goals and build practical steps toward change.
I hope clients feel supported and valued in our sessions and leave with the sense that they don't have to move through their struggles alone.
Who I Work With
I work with children, teens, college students and emerging adults, adults, and families. I have particular experience supporting:
Individuals navigating anxiety

What to Expect
Clients often describe me as supportive, easy to talk to, and someone who helps them feel heard. In the first few sessions, I focus on creating a supportive, collaborative space where you can share your story, feel heard, and begin to identify goals that reflect what you want from therapy. I approach goal-setting and treatment planning collaboratively, making sure your goals reflect your needs and are broken down into realistic, meaningful steps toward change.
You can expect:
A supportive and collaborative environment
Space to share your story and feel heard
Goals that reflect what you want from therapy
Realistic, meaningful steps toward change
