Sydney Daw, Intern

Hello! My name is Sydney, and I am currently in my final year of my graduate program at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh, working towards my Professional Counseling degree with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health, graduating in May of 2026. Through my hundreds of hours of clinical experience, as well as through the program at Oshkosh, I have been trained in individual counseling, group counseling, family and relational counseling, trauma counseling, and many other subsections of this field. I have completed SAFE training as well as Mindfulness training, and am receiving and operating under the most up-to-date research and information.

I have a deep passion and appreciation for this profession. I am consistently humbled and appreciative that I am able to move through someone’s most vulnerable moments with them while offering a space where someone is able to feel supported, understood, and empowered. I operate under the assumption that when motivated, humans are capable of deep and meaningful change and evolution. I approach all in my life with an umbrella attitude of warmth and understanding, and readiness to meet each individual where they are at. Beyond that, I operate under the framework of Person-Centered therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, components of Dialectical-Behavioral therapy, with the added element of psycho-education present in much of what I do.

Outside of my time here, I enjoy crafting, Legos, gaining knowledge on topics like history and science, collecting trinkets, spending time with loved ones, poets like Mary Oliver, reading, and local restaurants and coffee shops. I look forward to finding joy, wonder, and silliness in each day. I’m excited to introduce my clients to my compassion, sensitivity to emotion, and eagerness for understanding.
