Eunice Boatin, LCSW

Hi, I’m Eunice Boatin, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a deep commitment to helping others. My work is grounded in empathy and compassion, and I believe in the importance of being fully present with the individuals I work with, no matter their situation. I have always believed in the strength and resilience of each person, and I strive to empower my clients to tap into their own abilities to overcome life's challenges.

I grew up in Ghana, a West African country rich in culture and diversity, where the community was all about supporting one another. This upbringing instilled in me a deep appreciation for advocacy, empowerment, and the unique qualities that make us who we are. I moved to England as a young adult, where I practiced social work for over 10 years, working with children and families from diverse backgrounds. Through my personal experiences and professional work, I’ve come to understand just how essential emotional safety and validation are in the healing process.

With a bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Ghana and a master’s in Social Work from Dominican University in Illinois, I’ve been practicing social work for almost 20 years. My focus has been on working with children, families, and individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Since 2020, I’ve also been providing therapy, specializing in anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, anger, suicidal ideation, and grief for individuals ages 14 and above.

The lack of empathy and understanding towards individuals struggling with mental health issues was what inspired me to pursue therapy. I wanted to make a difference by providing the support, understanding, and validation that so many people are missing.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and aspects of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I also draw from a strengths-based perspective, helping my clients recognize their inherent strengths and the positive aspects of their circumstances.

The most rewarding part of my work is helping clients discover their strengths, develop self-compassion, and feel empowered through knowledge of their diagnoses. It’s incredibly fulfilling to witness their progress as they recognize the power they have to create change in their lives.

What sets me apart from other therapists is my calm and respectful approach, my transparency, and my ability to empathize and make clients feel safe and comfortable in our sessions. I believe that everyone has the strength and capabilities to make lasting changes in their lives. The journey may be overwhelming at times, but I’m here to walk with you, helping you find the strength to keep moving forward.

In my personal life, I enjoy spending time with my family, taking walks, exploring new neighborhoods, listening to music, dancing, and embracing my role as the "goofy mom." Life is too short not to enjoy the simple, joyful moments.

One of my favorite quotes by Brené Brown encapsulates how I view the challenges we face: “The dark does not destroy the light; it defines it. It's our fear of the dark that casts our joy into the shadows.”
